Lightning Cards FAQ's
In order to receive a lightning card the recipient’s mobile phone must meet the 2 criteria below:
- Be capable of sending & receiving MMS Picture Messages.
If you know that their phone can take photos then their mobile is capable of sending & receiving MMS Picture Messages
- Have MMS Picture Messaging Enabled.
In order to send or receive MMS Picture Messages they must have it enabled on their network. Have they ever sent you a photo? Have they ever received one from you? If so then their phone is MMS Picture Messaging Enabled
If both of the above are true then they will be able to get a lightning card.
The reason why we haven’t produced a list of mobile phones with their MMS capability is because it is largely irrelevant. The phone may be capable of sending and receiving picture messages but if the recipient doesn’t have MMS Picture Messaging enabled on their phone they won’t receive a lightning card.
Finally, please be aware that this is an emerging technology and some phones on some networks are just awkward and do their own thing.
If you still aren’t sure you can have the lightning card sent to your mobile as well for an additional 50p.
Not perfect, but at least you can hand deliver the card!
